Tune for Mary O.

An unusually lyrical work with a minimalistic influence. Based on Irish folk themes, “Tune for Mary O.” is a fine recital work that uses a blend of lateral sticking techniques to create melodic and accompanimental patterns.

Impromptu

Price range: $15.00 through $17.00

Rich O’Meara’s new piece for marimba consists almost exclusively of double lateral and single alternating strokes, has many tempo fluctuations and is improvisatory in nature. However, it looks a little more difficult and is a little longer than the typical O’Meara solo marimba piece you may be used to.

A second-place winner in the 1999 PAS composition contest for keyboard duet. Looking at “r” is a terrifically fun and accessible marimba duo. Once you hear it you will want to play it! Medium difficulty but sounds hard.

Skylark Orange Circles

Price range: $35.00 through $39.00

Duet for two marimbasSkylark Orange Circles is dedicated to the wonderful Japanese marimba virtuoso, Momoko Kamiya. The music is very dance-like in quality, going over and over through mostly the same sequence of harmonies while melodic variations are developed. The melodic ideas become more and more like a bird (or flute) singing as the work progresses.
