A PAS prize-winning composition dedicated to Raymond Des Roches, this high school/ college level work features the soloist on a multi-percussion set up, vibes and 4 pedal timpani. The accompanying quartet ensemble performs on mallets, drums and common accessory instruments. Some metric challenges as well as cadenzas for the soloist.

The music is very dance-like in quality, going over and over through mostly the same sequence of harmonies while melodic variations are developed. The melodic ideas become more and more like a bird (or flute) singing as the work progresses.
