This work is an unsung hero of the marimba quartet literature. It has not gotten its well-deserved circulation through the percussion community because it was unavailable for so long. Now available in a clearly engraved edition with single sheet 11 x 17 inch parts with a spiral-bound score.

A four-mallet marimba solo arranged from the song by Ethelbert Nevin in the classic style of Sammy Herman. Fairly easy technically, but stylistically tricky.

Puccini “a la Sammut” makes for a delightful dish! In this beautiful arrangement, Sammut uses the singing characteristics of the marimba to bring out the simple, lyrical elements of Puccini’s famous opera.

Requiring a minimum of eight marimbas, this work would be a great selection for any collegiate ensemble that has enough instruments!- Darin Olson, Percussive Notes

A very effective, exuberant and joyful marimba quartet with echoes of Reich and Zimbabwe.”Players with a strong sense of rhythm and two-mallet technique are necessary for a performance of this piece. While the piece is not overly fast and choppy, note accuracy could be tricky in certain passages. A strong sense of already existing ensemble cohesion will make a performance of this piece especially successful.”- Percussive Notes

Arranged and adapted from Maurice Ravel’s Pavane pour une infante défunte (Pavane for a dead princess), Bockman combines elements from both the original piano and the orchestral versions of the piece, along with a few personal touches. Appropriate for both intermediate and professional players.

A classic addition to any marimbist’s repertoire. The prelude is a virtuosic showpiece, and the three-voiced fugue highlights the separation of each voice by using different mallet types.

It is assumed that each numbered opus from Clair Omar Musser consisted of 20 pieces, but there is no surviving evidence of them now. The version of Opus 11, Number 3, published in 1948, had some issues with the chords and expression markings. I made some corrections and consistencies in this new edition, but I tried to keep Musser’s notation intact as much as possible. -Yurika Kimura

This simple but beautiful work is based on a three note descending bass line and right hand triad arpeggiations. It can be performed as a three or four mallet piece.
