Marimba

This work for 4.3 marimba is a medium-easy to medium-difficult, tonal, 4-mallet solo in which technical difficulties like fast interval changes are avoided.

Echoes No. 1 for solo marimba and delay. This piece requires some form of delay mechanism, which produces the “echoing” effect from the marimba throughout the work. Performers are encouraged to explore the many possibilities of this work.

A gripping, emotional piece for solo marimba that will captivate everyone who listens.

A variety of textures, including four-mallet chorales, single line melody, and even minimalism are present in this work for four mallets. The mature player will be able to musically connect the contrasting sections, to form an exciting recital piece. A 4.3 marimba is required.

Agogic and dynamic accents enhance colorful pops of dissonance that permeate the otherwise tonal realm and contribute to the intensity and forward movement. This piece ends where it began, with a finishing touch.

The Marimba Etudes are designed for the intermediate marimbist to work on several aspects of technique which are necessary to develop before proceeding to more advanced work.

This solo piece is an exploration of the marimba’s unique sound. Can be played on a 4.3 marimba, but there is an optional ending requiring a 5.0.
